Microsoft Intune is a powerful tool for remotely managing devices, applications, and configurations on an organizational level. This article provides instructions for remotely installing Insightful on company-managed Windows devices.

Before continuing with remote installation, you should obtain the .msi installation file.

To get the installation file:

  1. Go to the Employees Dashboard.

  2. Click on Add New Employee.

  3. Select Company Computers.

  4. Select Windows.

  5. Installation in the form of a .msi file will be downloaded on the device, commonly in the Downloads folder.

Note

Before installing, consider the scope of employees who should have Insightful installed. It is easier to execute the steps if the scope is determined before the actual installation.

You can also add specific employees to the Group that will have the installation assigned in the following steps.

Step 1: Upload the .msi installation file to the Intune

To deploy the already obtained installation file:

  1. Go to AppsAll apps → +Add.

  2. For App type, choose Line-of-business app.

  3. Click Select app package file and browse to your .MSI file

Note

Most of the App information will be prepopulated because they are already present in the MSI. For the Publisher name, you can set Insightful Inc. and for command-line arguments, you could use /qn command for silent install.

5. Review your settings and click Next.

Step 2: Assign the app to Users or Devices

In the Assignments section:

  1. Choose the assignment type: We always recommend the Required type, as it will automatically install the app on targeted devices/users.

  2. Select the users or devices (or Groups of users/devices) that should receive the app.

Step 3: Review and Create

  1. Review all the configuration settings.

  2. Click Create to add the application to Intune.

Note

Please note that it may take some time for an installation file to upload and be visible under Apps Windows. Also, it may take some time for the app to be installed on the device as there is a slight delay in Intune. If you need to make sure that it is installed you can log into employees' devices to confirm it.

Step 4: Monitor Deployment

After deploying the insightful app, monitor its installation status:

  1. Go to AppsMonitorApp install status to check deployment progress and troubleshoot issues
