Insightful offers flexible location settings, enabling companies to define their own criteria for classifying workdays as Office, Remote, or Mixed. By adjusting the location definition, you can ensure workday classifications align with internal policies and compliance requirements.

This classification is determined by the amount of time an employee spends at an office location, identified through MAC/IP address detection from the setup designated office networks.

Admins or managers with the "Manage Organization" permission can configure the threshold that defines an Office, Remote, or Mixed day. To configure it in Insightful, go to Settings β†’ Reports β†’ Location Insights.

Each organization can tailor this setting to align with its internal policies. For example, one company may require employees to be in the office for 99% of their workday to mark it as an Office day, while another might consider just 51% sufficient.

This location setting is applied platform-wide and influences how workday and shift locations are classified throughout Insightful. For example, it directly impacts the Location column in the Time & Attendance Timesheets.

When determining whether a shift was worked in the office, remotely, or in a mixed mode, the system uses the same configured threshold. This ensures consistent classification across all relevant features and reports.
