JumpCloud offers a centralized way to manage devices, applications, and configurations across your organization. In this guide, we’ll walk through how to deploy the Insightful desktop app to Windows devices managed by your company.
Before continuing with remote installation, you should obtain the .msi installation file.
To get the installation file:
Go to the Employees Dashboard.
Click on Add New Employee.
Select Company Computers.
Select Windows.
Installation in the form of a .msi file will be downloaded on the device, commonly in the Downloads folder.
Note
Before installing, consider the scope of employees who should have Insightful installed. It is easier to execute the steps if the scope is determined before the actual installation.
You can also add specific employees to the Device Groups that will have the installation assigned in the following steps.
Step 1: Upload the .msi installation file to JumpCloud
1. In the JumpCloud Admin Console, go to: Device Management → Software
Management
2. Click on the “+” button and select JumpCloud Private Repo.
3. In the Application Name field, enter the name of the app (e.g., Insightful App)
4. (Optional) Add a description if needed.
5. In the Deployment Configurations section, under Command Line Options, for silent installation, enter:
/qn /norestart
6. In the Upload Files section, click Choose a File and select your .msi Insightful installation file.
7. Click Upload.
8. Once uploaded, you will see the file name, size, and upload date displayed.
Step 2: Select Devices or Device Groups
1. Navigate to the Devices or Device Groups tab.
2. Select the devices or groups where you want the MSI to be deployed.
Step 3: Save & Install
1. Click Save & Install.
2. A confirmation pop-up will appear, warning that the software will be pushed to the device/s.
3. Check I understand this can’t be undone and click Install.
Step 4: Monitor Deployment Status
Open the Status tab of the application.
Monitor the progress — typically it takes about 4–5 minutes for the installation to complete.
Once successful, the status will show Install Success.
