Opening or importing CSV files allows users to access Insightful reports in Excel and Google Docs, providing detailed insights into data on employee productivity, attendance and work behavior. This feature makes enables analysis outside of Insightful platform and sharing reports with stakeholders with no access to the application.
In case you customize the column view on your Dashboard, please bear in mind that this will be reflected in the exported CSV, i.e. if you hide one column, the data from that column won't be present in the export.
CSV (comma separated values) is the common file format for data extracting, transferring and storing. Following is an explanation on how to view or import .csv files in Excel or Google Sheets to get the most out of them and data Insightful is collecting.
Microsoft Excel
1. Open a new Excel document and navigate to the Data tab.
2. On the Data tab, select From Text/CSV. Depending on your Excel version, you may need to select Get Data → From File → From Text/CSV.
3. Navigate to the CSV file you wish to open and click Import.
4. A preview window will open showing your data, with the Delimiter already detected automatically.
5. If needed, adjust the character in the Delimiter dropdown (usually Comma). Then click Next.
6. Use the dropdown next to Load and select Load To if you want to choose where the data is placed in your workbook. Click Finish.
Google Sheets
1. Open Google Sheets.
2. Choose File → Import.
3. Click on Upload → Select a file from your device or drag & drop a file.
4. The following window will pop up. Choose Import data.
