This month's updates focus on more customizable analytics on the Employee, Team, and Real-Time Insights pages, a smarter and more configurable Desktop Agent, and a wave of reliability improvements across calendar, HRIS, and project management integrations.
๐ Customizable Team and Employee KPIs
We just dropped a new range of customizable KPIs that empower managers to use the Insightful dashboard to consume key workforce analytics metrics easier than ever, with updates to both historical and real-time reports.
Customizable KPI highlight cards on Employee and Team pages
Admins and managers can now choose which 2โ4 KPIs appear on the Employee and Team pages, and switch between totals and daily averages. This makes it much easier to focus on the metrics that matter most to your organization. See the help article for details.
A more flexible Real-Time Insights dashboard
You can now customize the highlight cards on the Real-Time Insights page and use new filters to focus on the data you need. Real-time status details are also more reliable, reflecting the most recent status changes more quickly so you can act with confidence on what you see. Real-Time Insights now also includes a New Clocked-Out status so you can see at a glance who is no longer working.
Faster employee navigation
Managers and admins can now jump directly to another active employee from the Employee and Team pages, reducing clicks when reviewing teams. KPI utilization values also now display with the correct decimals across these pages.
โ๏ธ Smarter Time Tracking Rules in the Desktop Agent
The Desktop Agent received a substantial set of improvements in April. These updates are focused on more accurate time tracking, enabling accurate multi-organization tracking, and stronger admin controls.
Smarter break and inactivity handling
We improved break management and resolved several inactivity alert issues for more reliable time tracking. A new delayed start also helps prevent tracking discrepancies at the beginning of a session.
24-hour shift limit
A new 24-hour shift limit prevents unusually long shifts from being tracked unintentionally, helping protect data quality without manager intervention.
Better multi-organization workflows
For people who work across multiple organizations, switching is now easier and the selected organization remains clearly visible, reducing the risk of time being tracked under the wrong organization.
Optional macOS permission enforcement before clock-in
Admins can now enable a setting that blocks clock-in on macOS until required system permissions are granted, helping ensure tracking data is complete from the moment an employee starts their day.
Reliability and platform fixes
We resolved duplicate tray icons, improved tray recovery, and added display size and position to recordings for better multi-monitor support. We also fixed a Spanish keyboard accent issue on Windows and improved URL handling on both Windows and macOS.
๐ Stronger Calendar, HRIS, and Project Management Integrations
April brought a series of reliability improvements to the integrations many of our clients depend on every day. These integrations make Insightful even more powerful, and weโre always excited to enhance these services.
More reliable calendar syncing and audit visibility
External meetings now sync directly from Google Calendar so your email reports include complete calendar data. Calendar integrations also include a new integration-level rule for handling external meeting events, and calendar integration activity is now logged in much greater detail, making it easier to track changes.
Smoother HRIS employee matching
The Human Resources Information System (HRIS) employee matching flow now includes clearer visual cues and a more reliable matching screen, making onboarding new employees from your HRIS faster and less error-prone.
More dependable Jira and project management integrations
We fixed an issue that prevented some Jira-connected projects from syncing properly. Project Management (PM) integration filters now display the full task status list, so you get complete visibility when filtering your tasks across connected tools.
More accurate warehouse data for schedules and workdays
Our data warehouse integration now includes "expected" and "actual" values on workday and shift summary records, making schedule and time reporting more reliable for downstream analysis in your business intelligence (BI) tool of choice.
๐ New Admin and Security Controls
We shipped several updates this month that give admins more granular control over access and configuration settings in their organizations.
Dedicated billing permission
You can now manage who can access the Invoice page using a dedicated billing permission, separating financial data access from broader admin rights.
Security Alerts without Screenshot permission
You can now configure Security Alerts without enabling Screenshot permissions, giving you a simpler path to enabling alerts when screenshots aren't part of your tracking policy.
More accurate alert scope
Alert scope now shows employees more accurately based on the selected project scope, improving clarity when configuring who an alert applies to.
Expanded API access for manager user administration
Authorized roles can now create, update, and delete manager users via the API while preserving audit controls. The PTO data index also now supports an optional externalId field for better data tracking across systems.
Higher-quality screenshots
The screenshot upload size limit has been increased to 5MB to support clearer, higher-resolution captures.
๐ Full April Change Log
In addition to the highlights above, April included a number of smaller fixes and improvements across the platform โ including weekly email report total accuracy, fewer "unknown" entries in daily reports, more stable processing of report data, fixes for break settings on the Dashboard, corrections to email report delivery time display, prevention of duplicate requests on repeated clicks, and shift-edit consistency when scheduled shifts are moved across months.
