Update Required for your Insightful Agent

Necessary steps for updating the Insightful Agent

These are the instructions for updating the Insightful Agent for the employees in your company that are currently using an app version with an agent older than 7.3.5.

Why update?

Older app versions may encounter issues with calculating breaks within shifts, including the possibility of missing or incomplete break information. Updating to the latest version resolves these concerns and ensures a smoother, more reliable experience for your employees.

How to Update

  1. Perform a clean uninstall on the device that has an older version appearing on the Dashboard. (steps below)

    To understand if a device needs an update, please check what version of Insightful Desktop App (a.k.a. Insightful Agent) is running on it and whether it is the latest one.

    As an Admin, you can do that in the Agent version column on your Insightful application's Employees page.

  2. Download the latest installation from the Dashboard and install it

Reinstall for Windows

Please follow these steps to have the Insightful application reinstalled on the device:

  • First, please use this bat file (download, unzip, right mouse click, and run as admin) to remove Insightful.

  • Then delete the "workpuls-agent" folder which can be found in the following path:

  • Type %appdata% in the file manager’s address bar

Then, get the latest installation file from your organization's account when you click the Add New Employee button >> Company computer on your Employees dashboard and install it again.

Reinstall for MacOS

  • Copy the unzipped script (‘uninstall.sh’) to your desktop

  • Open Terminal - Press CMD+Space on your keyboard -> in Spotlight Search type “Terminal”

  • Copy the following text “sh ~/Desktop/uninstall.sh” into the terminal and press enter

  • Type your password and press enter

  • Then, go to ~/Library/Application Support/ find the "workpuls-agent" folder and delete it completely

After you have done the Uninstallation part, please follow the instructions from this article to reinstall Insightful again.
