Manual Installation of Insightful on Windows

Learn how to manually install Insightful app to your employees that use devices with Windows OS

Insightful can be deployed manually to devices with Windows OS and the process will understand following different steps if the devices are owned by the company or personally by employees/users.

Important To Know When Adding New Employees & Devices

It's imperative that you select and use the right version (Company vs. Personal) of computers. Please see our Terms of Use and Acceptable Use Policy for more information.

We'll first walk you through the process for company computers and then for the personal ones.

Company devices

Step 1: Get the Insightful installation file

  1. Go to Employees Dashboard.

  2. Click on Add New Employee.

  3. Select Company Computers.

  4. Select Windows.

  5. Installation in the form of .msi file will be downloaded on the device

Step 1: Run the installation file

  1. Locate the downloaded installation file, commonly in the Downloads folder.

  2. Double-click the file to start the installation process.

  3. Follow the installation wizard to complete the installation.

  4. Upon completion, the application will run automatically, and you are all set.

Silent Installation

The Insightful desktop application can be directly installed on company owned computers without user interaction or interface prompts. This method can be useful as it avoids disturbing the employees and makes the process faster. To perform a silent installation to a device with Windows OS, follow these steps.

Personal devices

  1. Go to Employees Dashboard.

  2. Click on Add New Employee.

  3. Select Personal Computers.

  4. Add Employees to whom you want to send invitations for installation.

After you have sent the invitations to employees:

  1. They will be sent an invitation via email to join Insightful.

  2. They will be asked to register an account with Insightful.

  3. They will need to download and install Insightful on their device.

    1. They can use this link to download the installation file,

    2. Upon download, they will need to locate the .exe installation file, commonly in the Downloads folder, and double-click the file to start the installation process,

    3. They will need to follow the installation wizard and press finish to complete the installation.

  4. They will need to log in to Insightful after installation.

    1. They can use the Workpuls shortcut on their desktop or search for Workpuls in the Start menu to start the Insightful app.

After they have logged into Insightful, employees will automatically appear on your dashboard.

Manage Pending Employee Invites

To help users manage pending Employee invites more efficiently, we’ve introduced a simple way to take action directly within the platform. When viewing your list of pending invites, you can click on the three dots at the end of each row to access a dropdown menu.

This menu provides you with the options to Resend Invitation or Withdraw Invitation, allowing you to easily manage and control the invitation process without needing to contact support.

Prevent Installation Issues

Redirection to Microsoft Store: If you're trying to install Insightful and you get redirected to the Microsoft Store instead, you can disable Windows S Mode by following a few simple steps explained in this article.

Firewall Settings: If after the installation the employees don't appear on your dashboard, please make sure to check your network firewall settings as described in this article.

Windows 7: If you followed the steps described in this article and tried installing Insightful app on Windows 7 but it didn't start, please follow the steps provided here.

Switching from Personal to Company Computer Users and Vice versa

If at any point due to changing business requirements you need to change an Insightful set up from Personal to Company computer and vice versa - you can do that by following these instructions.
